“Infectious Diseases in an Era of Global Change: Innovative multidisciplinary pan-african efforts towards building research capacity in Africa.”
The West African Network of Infectious Diseases African Centres of Excellence WANIDA will hold the first edition of the WANIDA Symposium from March 8-10, 2023.
This event will be hosted by the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP), University of Ghana, which is the Coordination Centre of WANIDA.
Due to the pandemic, this symposium will be a hybrid event with an in-person component as well as a virtual component to allow for flexibility and networking opportunities.

The Symposium attendance is also open to non-presenters. Registration is free for all.

WANIDA Symposium is accepting abstracts, Oral or Posters, within 5 thematic areas:
- Surveillance and preparedness for new pandemics
- Pathogenic basis of diseases and host responses
- Innovative disease prevention strategies and vaccinology
- Neglected Tropical Diseases
- Strategies for malarial control and elimination
Interested presenters should register and submit an abstract of at least 300 words but not exceeding 350 words, in English or French via this link by 30th November 2022. Abstracts should be structured as follows:
- Title
- Background
- Methods
- Results
- Significance
Please note :
– The submission of an abstract implies your consent to let us publish it in the Symposium proceedings.
– All submitted abstracts will be reviewed and assigned to the appropriate session (Oral/Poster)
– All presenting authors of accepted abstracts are expected to attend the Symposium (virtual/in-person).
– A limited number of invitations (payment of travel and accommodation costs) will be offered to selected speakers, as part of the call for abstracts.
