Thesis title: A secure data-centric model for digital learning in higher education institutions.
Summary of scientific project:
My doctoral research focuses on improving data management and security in digital learning universities, particularly in West Africa. The main research question revolves around identifying the most appropriate data architecture and security framework for these educational environments. The main objectives include conducting a comparative use case analysis of e-learning solutions, developing a data-centric model, designing a robust security framework, implementing a secure grade distribution system within Moodle, and conducting a proof-of-concept to validate the proposed solutions. Through this research, I hope to provide practical ideas and recommendations for improving data management and security in digital learning universities.
Summary of results:
The results obtained from my research demonstrate the effectiveness of a data-centric architecture and security model in addressing the unique challenges faced by digital learning universities. Through a comprehensive comparative analysis of e-learning solution use cases and user feedback, key insights were drawn to inform the development of a customized data-centric model (Sinan, Degila, et al., 2022; Sinan, Nwoacha, et al., 2022). This model integrates hybrid storage solutions, efficient data flow mechanisms and robust data governance and security functions, as demonstrated by the practical implementation of the secure grade distribution system within Moodle. The results underline the adaptability and effectiveness of the proposed solutions for improving data management and security in educational environments, particularly in West Africa (Idris et al., 2022). These results make a valuable contribution to the field of educational technology and data management.
Prospects for the end of the thesis:
At the end of this thesis, the prospect is to have established a solid framework for digital learning universities in West Africa, guaranteeing safe and effective data management. The implemented data-centric architecture and security model will serve as a basis for improving educational technology infrastructure, fostering innovation and enhancing learning outcomes. In addition, the research aims to inspire the exploration and implementation of data-centric approaches in various educational contexts, thus contributing to the advancement of educational technologies and data management practices worldwide.
Prospects after completion of thesis:
After completion of the thesis, the perspective is to disseminate the results and recommendations to relevant stakeholders in the education sector, including policy makers, administrators and technologists. In addition, the focus is on translating the research findings into practical solutions and initiatives that can be implemented to address the challenges facing digital learning universities. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the continuous improvement of education technology infrastructure and data management practices, thereby improving the quality and accessibility of education in West Africa and beyond.
