The African Center of Excellence for the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases (CEA-PCMT) was created in 2019 as part of the World Bank-funded African Centers of Excellence (CEA) Impact project.
CEA-PCMT aims to sustainably improve the prevention and control of communicable diseases in sub-Saharan Africa.

Its aim is to establish a regional program of excellence in training and research on communicable diseases. To achieve this, the CEA-PCMT's masters and doctoral programs are innovation-oriented and involve public and private development players at national, regional and international levels. In addition, the CEA-PCMT aims to conduct applied research in partnership with national and international institutions in order to become a regional reference center for the prevention and control of communicable diseases in West Africa.

In terms of research, the center focuses on epidemiology and biostatistics, communicable disease surveillance, community health and molecular biology. The CEA-PCMT aims to create and maintain a synergy of action between teaching and research on the one hand, and health programs and services on the other.
